I am lookin to buy a mod chip for my ps2 so I can play backups on DVD-R...I was looking at a couple of the solderless ones, and liked what they had to offer. My question is, does anybody on here have a modded ps2 box? if so what woulod the recomend.

not sure. Somehow ejects the boot CD without the PS2 knowing the disc has been ejected. I'm sure it comes with instructions.
I have the flip-top cover instead.

i hope you have a something besides a V1-3 machine.

http://www.ps2cover.com/v9ps2coverblackcombosm3.html

the covers were available for that series, but looks like they quit making them.

you start your machine with a boot disc.
wait for the disc to stop spinning
swap the boot disc for a dvd-+r
press a button ...
and that's all.

it takes 10 min to slap on the new cover and under 20 seconds to get a game to play. no soldering and the only tool needed is a phillips head.

you fool the machine by bypassing the authentitication check by using a supplied boot cd, use the slide card to hold down the eject tray sensor. and swap discs.

if you had the discs, you could do the exact same thing with a butter knife.

Slide cards/flip top lids/swap magic are junk and don't work with every game even if you do it right. Do it right the first time with a DMS chip and save your self the hassle of swapping out 2-3 cds before you play your game.
