Default simple question(to a few)

what would happen if one were to put diesel fuel into a car that has a gasoline engine? this is a serious question, how bad would the engine's damage be?

DANGER TO MANIFOLD

YOUR FLOOR PLATE WILL FALL OFF

jkjk. Since Diesel combusts naturally under pressure, I'm guessing it would ignite before the spark.

It would destroy your fuel system to begin with I bet.
Probably screw up your engine's internals too because it doesn't have the same combustion properties as gasoline. Probably combust at the wrong time in the engine cycle.

aren't diesel engines higher compression than regular gas though?

yea diesel engines have higher comp. ratios than gasoline engines. gas engines are spark ignition engines and diesel engines ar compression ignition egines which means gas engines ignite the fuel via a spark and diesel engines ignite the fuel via compression. thats all i know.

well then as long as it doesn't ignite before the spark then it's ok I guess.

I would assume the spark would ignite it. but I don't know for sure.

it would cause some damage. It wouldn't combust before the spark because gas engine don't compress the mixture to a high enough pressure.

diesels are usually 20:1 or higher I believe. However, it would kill your fuel system probably all the seals from the tank to injectors.

engine won't run, or if it does, it will run VERY poorly. if this is done, you will need to flush the entire fuel system. most likely damaged will be fuel injectors..
