Default pyhsical memory...

whenever i play games and stuff my computer crashes and says like "ran out of physical memory" i recently sent my computer back to the company because of harddrive failures. heres stats on comp.

P4P800 deluxe
P4 800 FSB @ 2.6 ghz
GEIL 512 mb of DDR400
radeon 9600 atlantis then theres some other stuff. its win XP i think service pack 2

512mb? jeeeeez, get with the times, man! You need 1GB of RAM. WinXP uses ~235mb of RAM, then under heavy load i'm sure you run out.

1GB of RAM is no longer that expensive.

Man i was running 256 of DDR lol. I guess its time for an upgrade :yes:

I dont build them now with any less than 1.5gb of RAM. The computer runs very smooth with that.

And you memory problems are caused by not enough Ram, pricewatch.com or tigerdirect.com

You shouldn't be having that problem with 512 megs of ram. Yes, more is better, but you shouldn't run out.

I'm guessing a paging problem or something.

it's easy when you're just using regular DDR.

fuggin registered ECC DDR is still expensive!

^^^ Could very well be either. And it sounds he has been having some other hardware issues also... voltage surges on the board maybe?

which means the power supply could be suspect or the electricy in his house/building.

is the pc plugged into a surge protector (not a $10 cheapo one)
