Default throttle lag?

I guess that is what you could call it.

What would be causing the car to loose power when going down the road at a constant speed with a constant throttle position. I'm cruising at like 2200 rpms in 5th and it just starts to loose power and run different. If I hold my foot at the same place it takes it like 10 second to go away then it will happena again like a minute later. The car still goes fine accelerating, it's just when cruising. I just replaced the MAP sensor so it's not that. It did this with the old motor too. The only piece retained is the charcaol canister/PCV assembly. Could that going bad be the problem? I'm pretty sure it's a vaccum issue. I'm pretty sure we hooked up the vaccum right. One odd thing was the lack of a line coming straight out of the back left of the intake manifold where the diagram out of a service manual for a CRX SiR showed there would be. Maybe it was different for one of the two years. Feel free to suggest lines misconnected and what they could be as an issue. The idle is a little odd to, it fluctuates a little bit. Whatever it is it isn't helping my gas mileage and it is kind of annoying. I just want the car to cruise the way it's supposed to. It's a first gen B16a in an '88 CRX Si if any of you know specifics about my application. This should just be a general troubleshooting thing though.

thanks.

could be clogged PCV or vacuum leak.

vacuum leak can be a PITA to track down.

I am thinking about the PCV because we had it apart and with our luck putting stuff back together (we ****ed up the VTEC solenoid, put the pin in backwards so it was always on the agressive cams h: lucky to figure that out later) it could be that. Or it could just be old, I'll check it out and see how much a new one is. I'll check for leaks too.

any others?

Also 2200 rpms is kinda low to be running in 5th gear...does it do it at higher rpms at constant speed? What happens under acceleration?

yes it will do it down the highway at 3500-3700 rpms.

I figure if it can pull around in 5th barely touching the throttle it's not bad and it saves gas. Pretty flat around here too. This new motor pulls around effortlessly . It's more like 24-2500 now that I think about it.

So it doesn't sputter or lose power under acceleration?

Mine is doing the same thing :eek3:

cept' with constant throttle at 3,200 rpm it will start dropping to about 2,500 than kick in and jump to 4,500. It's kinda like riding a bucking horse.

It could be the PCV valve for both of us then.
You wanna try it first?

Is that the purge valve? I'm going to be replacing it anyway for my emissions test.
