Default Home Audio components

:wavey:

I'm in the market for a mid-range home audio/surround sound setup. I think that the wireless speakers would work best for the way my living room is. Any recommendations? What watt power range should I look for in the receiver?

Thanks.

Umm... prolly up to $400-$500. Looking for like a 5-channel setup that comes with a receiver and maybe a CD player. I really don't need a DVD player cause I already have 2.

:edit: I dig the systems that have the front 2 speakers (not center channel) on stands and that are thin. They'd go great around my fireplace.

you're looking for a system in a box.

go to best buy and pick one up. $500 can get a okay sounding system in a box.

for wattage you'd wanna take into account cube feet for the room it's in and the speakers it'll power

The room is only about 20x12. A box system would be fine.

Walmart also has simular systems to Best Buy at a slightly cheaper cost. You may want to check there too.

Thanks.

Any brands to be careful of? I'm a name brand guy in these situations, myself.

Don't get the off brand names like DuraMax. Stay with the big names like sony, Pioneer, Yahmaha, etc.

Well if you like design B&O are great design, but its nowhere near your price.
You could go with something like Sony DAVFR8 that a full system. or Bose has a nice design/quality/price...Bose Lifestyle 18 serie2 i think might be around your price range. Or else buy separate, for example Harmon kardon have good sound. They have a speaker kit(HKTS7) that is supposedly pretty good with a AVR130 receiver would be good...

You have 2 dvd players? then no need for cd player, I would go with Harmon Kardon plug in your dvd player.
