I would first try a cap and rotor. It almost sounds like he is getting a little bit of moisture in the cap. Has it been raining there or have you had cold nights and warmer days?

sometimes its just the car. like my 92 protege i had, it would stall sometimes for no reason and i found that it happened when u rev'ed it up too high and pressed the clutch in during first gear or just randomly while driving like on the freeway. i did some research on automotiveforums.com since its the most comprehensive car forum and other people had the same problem. there was no solution so i sold the car.

if the problem were just stalling alone it wouldn't worry me too much, the problem is that once the car stalls it wont' start again. not for a little while anyway. Hondaman, if it were mositure in the rotor would that still allow the engine to start when roll started? because the car still started fine when he roll started it.

It's tough to tell. When you roll start it, you are turning the engine over much faster than if you were with the starter. This in turn can create more heat for the moisure to evaporate inside the distributor. :dunno: That's the only thing I can come up with.

you may wanna try toyotanation.com they have some very knowledgable people there ( i also own a toyota)

but my recommendation is that you clean the battery and check you ignition system like your wires and dist. but i had a similar problem with my truck as well but it is a different ignition system than yours
