No, I don't think it's dying. If it was dying it would do it all year long or at least not just when it's cold.
A lot of transmissions act differently when cold. Mine, for instance, is hard as hell to shift when it's cold.
You could always flush the fluid to be on the safe side, but I highly doubt there's anything wrong with your transmission.

hmm, i guess i warm mine up the longest, i did mine for about 5 minutes. then i head down the hill for about a mile and im done, lol. i bet if i didnt stop at any of the stop signs, i could roll down the hill and meet my destination.

case in point:
my dad had an 83 Mercedes-Benz 300SD Turbodiesel. cold weather the thing shifted so rough the tires would chirp in 2nd. once it warmed up a bit, it was smooooooth shifting.
