how I didn't own a texas state trooper today who was really nice to me
I was driving from San Antonio to Austin (about a hour and 15 minutes if you go the speed limit, just straight up i-35), and the posted limit was 70mph. I was doing about 85, but the traffic was too, so its not like I was the solo speed demon.... well, coming around a corner (and right after an overpass), a state trooper was clocking people. I react by downshifting but its too late, and as we pass him (there was a few cars around me, particularly a red dodge ram and a 7th gen civic sedan), the troopers pulls into the highway....
I haven't moved from my lane, and a line of cars is in front of me, so I'm just pacing them, and the trooper is now at about 7 oclock, maybe 10 feet back (I assume he was running my plates), and he finally gets behind me and starts the lazer light show. I pull over imediately, roll down all my windows, remove the keys from the ignition and throw them on the dash, and wait for him with both hands on the wheel. He comes up and takes my DL and insurance (both I keep in my wallet), and askes about my shirt (a college frat/sororety party teeshirt I got from my brother)... turns out his wife went to the same school my sibling did, and in fact was a member of the sororety on my shirt (he mentioned having the same shirt). He tells me he clocked me doing 15 over the limit, and asked what my hurry was.... I told him I was just going with the flow of traffic, and he goes back to his car.
so he comes back with a warning, and lets me go. I never thought I'd see the day that I'd get a warning for speeding, let alone one from a texas state trooper :eek4:
cliffs notes: got pulled over by state trooper 15 over the limit, and by coincidence and showing the officer courtesy, I got a warning.

:nono: speeding is wrong. He should've hit you with Wreckless endangerment and Vehicular Homicide for all the bugs you were killing on your high speed escapades.
