how do ppl pronounce "arkansas"?? is it arkansaw or arKANSAS??

I always hear ppl call it arkanSAW :dunno:

 

It's supposed to be pronounced Are-KANSAS, but it is pronounced Are-KAN-SAW by everyone, including people in Arkansas.

Yes, I've been there and yes it sucks.

:stupid: i lived there roughly a year, hated it, i lived in ghetto ass pine bluff. there are a lot of nicer places there i know but the people in general, all over the state were dicks. thats just my experience though.

 

It is pronounced Ar - Kan - Saw because that is how it is supposed to be pronounced. It is an indian word and has been pronounced that way since like 1881 or something.

I also believe Kansas should be pronounced Kan - Saw or Kan - Saws as well. It is also an indian word (Kansa).

Sorry you didn't like it here, though. Have you been here (i.e. Little Rock) in the past 2 years or so? A lot has changed.
