Find my brother a computer...
Kim has that notebook. She really likes it. But I dont know about that 12" screen.
I have a Dell 600m. It is light enough to carry around. It has a decent sized 14" screen. It has GREAT battery life, 4+ hours. It is VERY quiet. The fan is just about inaudible in the library. It has integrated wireless.
The only cons I can think of:
-no finger scrolling on the touchpad
-the build is...:ugh: The whole notebook seems a lil fragile. The screen flexes a bit when I hold it, and the battery jiggles.
-the screen can be a little nicer, but it is nice for a $1100 notebook
P4m 1.8 gHz
256MB pc2100
40 GB HD
ATI 9000 64mb v-card
802.11 b/g
$1100.

I think he may go with the dell because he told me he doesn't care about carrying it around campus. It's more of a easy mobility between home and school thing (3 hours between).
I'm surprised though, I haven't read a bad review of Averatec yet--that's pretty impressive.

my laptop is pretty chunky, but I really dont use it at class..I just liked having something I could walk around the house with, and be able to bring back and fourth between school and home. I use my Desktop for anything really processor intensive, and my laptop for net surfing and writing papers and such.
