You know what that does make sense cus i can only smell it when im in the car but when i get out the smell goes away.
and your passenger's probably cant smell it, right?
i only smell mine coming from my far left vent....and everyone argues with me about that, b/c it's only one vent, but i swear to you, its only that vent. i check them all when i smell it and my passengers never smell it.
if i get out of my car quick enough though, i can smell it coming from under my hood at my windshield..but its very very faint.
the heater core is how your heat works.... what happens is when you adjust your cold/hot knob, the hot coolant goes through it and the blower motor blows across and then heat comes out.

That would probably explain why when i drive to work after bout a half hour the heat stops working and it takes an extra id say 5-10 minutes before the heat actually kicks in again. At the time the heat gives out is about the time when i start to smell coolant.
