Default Wine snobs unite!

I need suggestions on nice, low-price wines for my brother's wedding. The hotel has an extensive list, so don't fear to mention uncommon wines.

So far I'm hoping to go with an Iron Horse blanc de noir wedding cuvee, and then a Ravenwood chardonney. I'm kind of torn on the red choice... I'm mostly a shiraz fan and I think that would be too heavy for the average person, as well as for the food.

Meal is choice of NY strip, chicken w/ prosciutto, or grilled salmon. As much as I'd like a cabernet, it's probably too heavy for the chicken or salmon so it's probably going to be a merlot or pinot noir... maybe a zin at the outside.

Suggestions besides the Ravenwood for white would be nice too, just in case they don't have it.

Help. :happysad:

Yellowtail Chiraz, or 1998 Franciscan or 1999 St. Francis if you can find them. Any of those will really compliment the steak.

I've got a bottle of that on my rack that I've been waiting to open.
