Default problem with connecting to internet

I have XP and wireless network. My laptops are all working that are wireless, but my desktop that has direct wired connection to router is not. I can ping the IP and everything but when I try to use netscape or other browsers I get message that they cannot connect to yahoo.com or other websites. Whats going on? btw, I am using usb linksys connection to my desktop.
