connection problem / 98SE
So, my desktop quit connection to the 'net yesterday, I've been trying to get it going again for a couple hours now, and finally broke down and decided to ask.
What happened:
For a couple days, the computer threw a warning box when I first opened IE that said no connection was availible, work offline/try again. I hit try again, and it worked.
Now, it just quit going online. IE doesn't connect, nor does any other internet based (AIM, MSN, bittorrent) program.
The computer I'm using now is on the same hub as the crapped out computer, and these two can still share files over the network. This one, obviously, still connects to the internet just fine.
In short, what can make a P3 computer running 98SE work on the network but not online?

I suppose you already messed around with the internet connection wizard and the control panel option for internet connections. I had something similar happen with 98SE, IE was fuxored but Netscape connected just fine. Have you tried another browser? I finally got IE to work again after I reinstalled it....along with the rest of the o/s.

I can't get it to work by changing any settings.
I can't reinstall the OS either, I lost the CD key years ago... but not the CD.

Is there anyway I can get my CD key out of my computer?
