Default problem with desktop tcp/ip error pops up after start-up

I am wondering if it has anything to do with winsock cause I removed some bc of a virus I got winsock2.2.exe or something like that and I think I deleted some winsock registers from regedit... any way to put those registers back to default?

Also, my netscape and explorer are not working even though I am connected to internet..

Reinstall your tcp/ip stack. You could do some typing and modifying registry keys to do so, or use this script http://qwest-tck-ip40.scinternet.net...nsockXPFix.exe. I had to use it not too long ago as the result of some malware, so it's safe. All of the above is if you have Win XP.

thanks umop, I did that but still no luck. When I try to click on netscape, it gives me selections of dial-up options only

get a real anti virus.....you can not remove a virus by simply deleting the file and editing the registry.

I guess your only other option is a repair install. If that doesn't work - format
