yeah sure. I evan have some friends who are prior service, and work as contractors overseas. DoD contractors are almost always mentioned when someone says a thank you for service to the country. The military seems to be using more and more contractors, which are in harms way as well. It sorta suks that a lot of em make more $ than we do.

OOH! Wait..okayokayokay..

I work for Customs and Border Protection who is under the Department of Homeland Security who in turn DEFENDS our nations borders...does this qualify as a DoD nominee????

oh yea...my sister is a Navy corpmen in the DoD, and my mom was a civilian DoD employee at the US embassy in London back in the 70s.

I'm a veteran myself, and my bro is in the army now in CO. He may be going over to Iraq early next year.
