Default repartitioning a dell notebook..

so, i got my dell (yay!) and i have some questions..

i want to repartition everything as dell has a hidden partition that takes of several GB, for system restore i think. and another partition with i can only assume is used for suspend to disk?

anyway, what would be the best way to go about repartitioning a notebook without causing any problems?

When I was restoring a Dell last week, during the partitioning process of Windows XP, it showed two partitions, the first was small, and said something about system restore or some crap, the second was the C: Drive. I just deleted the C: Drive and repartitioned without touching the other one.

so you don't think i'm going to kill any functionality by blowing away those two "unknown" partitions?

When I first got a dell, i just formatted the hard drive right when i got it. During the Windows XP installation, i just deleted all the partitions and created two new ones for system files and other.
