Well, with most discussions of violent conflicts, it often turns into an "Us vs. Them" discussion without the acknowledgment of the other side's humanity or rationalization for their actions. Most humans are not creatures that seek violence and wanton destruction, but are wont to devolve to such a state when their very way of life becomes threatened. For example, look at us and look at them. We have reacted to a similar situation in very similar ways.

I don't condone any action that takes the life of another human being, so I'm not attempting to defend the Iraqi insurgents... It's just important to understand that they are people too...

I have been saying that all along and a few of the things he says in the interview are the same types of things I said. Its horrible that we are there...it is horrible that the country is occupied....it is horrible that there are pockets of resistance.....war in general just plain sucks.
