Default Scam maybe? Help

Hey my dad just got a letter that basically said " Im from outside of the united states and want to deposit 6.5million dollars into your account then you send me back 75% of it? We keep the rest. Sounds like a fricking scam. My dad has been getting them all the time, just wants to know what is up with this and how it works?

Yes its a scam.

You deposit the money, make sure it clears, send back the percentage...and then only to find out the money didn't actually clear and you're out a buttload of money.

Its real!!!!

It a well known scam. He sends you fake funds. You send him real funds when you return a portion. When he gets the money, your bank realizes that the funds are fake.

O yea that is such a scam. I knew it was since my hotmail put it in my spam folder. Besides if someone was to do that i would get a swiss bank account and disappear.
