do you just yank it out or do you have windows stop it first

I have windows stop it. Sometimes i lost stuff when i just yanked it out.

just take it out, just make sure it's not copying stuff when you do. never had a problem with it

no the safe procedure would be to keep a copy of the data on the hdd and once done copying just pull out.

I was wondering also, but not for flash drives but external harddrives. I have been stopping it through windows first, but there were times when I got a message saying that it can't be stopped because there is something in progress. :dunno:
