Default problem or not?

Today I accidently backed into a rock going about 3 mph. It was very low and not where I expected it and I was going slightly uphill, anyone whose looked out the back of a CRX will get the idea. However it was high enough to hit the very bottom of the bumper. When I hit it it broke the weld of some kind of lower bumper supports (matching one on the other side) and it came off clean and fell out. Now if I try to move the bottom of the bumper it will go back and forth a little bit, but it's still being held on just fine by the bigger upper mount, it just doesn't feel solid like the other side. Is it going to move around going down the highway or is it just kind of an extraneous mount. No damage to the bumper, just the damn mount popped out.

f=m*a

speed was 3mph but your car is 2300lbs. that's a lot of force. I say fix it.

It's not load bearing.

A speed of 3 mph is not an acceleration of 3 miles per hour squared. And even if it was the mass would be in kg and the acceleration in metres per second squared. Which would equate to a rather small force.

vertically, the main mount is higher. It's to keep the bottom diffuser looking section that is unpainted from flexing back and forth.

wtf?

why don't i hit you in my car while i'm going 3mph and you tell me if that's a small force or not.

i could careless about converting to kg or lbs. 2200lbs of anything hitting you at 3mph is going to hurt.

Most bumpers are spec'd to 5 mph, the damages were probably not caused by the accident itself but by wear and tear that was eventually aggravated by the incident.

but it was concentrated of exactly one spot below the solid part of the bumper.
I bet the 5 mph spec (which my car does have) is for hitting another car's bumper.
