how do I turn on my DMA...I got a DVD burner and it says for it to work I have to turn on my DMA

XP im assuming?

Control panel, then system, hardware, device manager. Double click on IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, the second Tab. you should see what DMA setting Windows is using.
