Default Movie editing software

I recorded a trip a took a few weeks back with my mini dv camera. I'm editing it on Wiindows Movie maker, as we speak but it does not have alot of functions. I want to put music over a few clips of the movie with the video audio completely muted. The only way to do that is to have the the video completely muted throughout the entire length of the movie. My question is am I missing something? Is there another simple movie editing program I can download for free? I don't need avid express or anything fancy. Just something that can let do my audio the way I want, and maybe add some title screens.

Yeah it's really easy. I haven't used Windows Movie Maker yet, but Premiere is pretty easy. Good for movies with simple cuts.
