Default Any ways to prevent getting sick?

I'm at work and I can tell I'm getting sick. I'm starting to get a sore throat, it hurts when I swallow. Is there anything I can do to nip this in the bud?

I just had some tea with honey and my throat feels a lot better. Obviously my options are quite limited since it's 3:30am and I'm at work, maybe I can find something better when I get home.

If you're looking at a cold here, it's caused by a virus and antibiotics won't do shit to help you.

Drink a lot of water, and take a lot of vitamin C and echinacea/goldenseal.

those of you taking antibiotics for any little thing are going to regret it when you really need it..

The 3 guys above me are right. Antibiotics won't do any good for a cold which like Mike said are viruses and not bacterias. Also use of the same antibiotics all the time can also cause bacterial resistance which is not also good. For echinacea or goldenseal I wouldn't really recommend it since there is not much proof on their effectiveness or how they work. I've been reading some stuff about zinc and in theory zinc enters the virus and prevent them from replicating. There are zinc products over the counter you can try to prevent a cold...ie. lozenges, nasal spray and swabs (Zicam)
