Default Police Suck!

ok, here goes my situation. It was late 2003. I have been in the process of building my EG civic for the past 3 years. I was just about done with the entire buildup(Built GSR motor, Greddy turbo kit, fully Dyno tuned, new paint job, new rims, complete interior,JDM exterior). Obviously my hard work didnt go unoticed and my car was stolen in front of my Apartment in broad daylight(about 5 in the evening)! After three days of restless nights I get a call from the local police and they have recovered my car or should I say what was left of my car. Entire car was stripped, nothing left except for suspension.
Man I hate thieves, people have no respect for other peoples Shit! Anyway needless to say, I get a tip from my homie at the track that there was some guy bragging about his built GSR greddy turbo he just dropped in his EK hatch.
He popped the hood for my homie, and sure as hell it is my MOTOR! So I find out where this guy lives, and wouldnt you know he just so happens to live on the next street over from where my car got jacked at. Then I get another tip from another homie. He says he just got done racing a white EK turbo over near my house. He flagged the guy down and asked him what he got under the hood and the guy popped the hood and sure as hell there is another witness. So I go to the police and tell them all my information and about the witnessess. I tell the cops I can point out every little thing about my motor without even poping the guys hood, so they know I couldn't have made it up.
You know what the cops tell me? Without the block number, they cant do anything about it!! I mean WTF is that about? These guys are suppose to serve and protect the innocent(me in this case), and they wont even lift a finger to help me. Now I'm stuck on what to do LEGALLY! You guys got any ideas on how to do it LEGALLY? I want to try and get him to pop his hood for me so maybe I can memmorize the block number, but the guy is kinda skeptical of poping his good for anyone anymore. ****ing PIGS man!

didnt they lift fingerprints from your car while it was in the police yard? if so just go lift a print from the dude or off his car or something and take it to the cops. they will have a match and take the dude away.

Don't jump to conclusions here. Isn't it possible that EK kid bought the motor from the guys who really stole it? I'd try to get some people to get some recon. Special ops sht.

On the serious side, I'd do my best to either get the block number or bend over and take it. You want it done legally.

You do something illegal and you really aren't much better than the people that stole it in the first place.

Good luck and i hope they get caught and tossed in prison to be ass raped.
