Default router questions (looking to buy)

ok, so i'm looking to buy a wireless router and cable modem, i have already decided on the motorola surfboard cable modem.

I am looking at the linksys wireless G router, and the D-Link wireless G router.
Linksys is about $60 after rebates, and this week I could get the D-Link for $40 at best buy. Could anyone give me some insight on what they know about these two, or point me to some reviews on the products, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks

Linksys is better built than D Link IMHO. But the Linksys' do have a heating issue, I have to shut mine down once every 3 months for about 15 minutes because it starts acting up.

I have a Linksys, and I have to unplug it for a few seconds just about everyday because it keeps acting up.

we had a problem with our linksys too, we had to reset it a few times a day, but that was only since we got cable internet, so i don't know. I know Linksys has a better reputation, but the D-Link is a bit less expensive.

i have a Dlink and i've NEVER had problems with it. my computer is constantly on as well. the most time it's spent off in the past year and a half is when swapping parts or installing new ones. i ran 76 days without rebooting (gotta love linux, til i got XP) and never a problem with the modem (Toshiba) or router.

that's where i found a lot of my computer parts. i got my router for $36 shipped to my door. gotta do some hunting on there, but it's very worth the time and effort.

I have a D-link 802.11b version (it's a few years old). I upgraded to it from a wired 4 port router that was also a D-link (and a buddy of mine is still using). I'm very happy with mine. When I first set it up, I had some issues with it disconnecting once in a while and I tried the newest firmware and whatnot and it didn't help, upgraded the drivers for my dell laptops wireless card it's worked fine ever since (so it turned out to not be the router after all). I had a linksys PCMCIA 10/100 card a while back and the thing was garbage and I tried to call their support and they were a waste of my time so I tend to stick to Dlink. I do have a Linksys Wifi PCI card in my girlfriends computer and haven't had any problems with it though.

I hve a D-link wired router and I have yet to have to reboot it in the year it has been running. I have it sitting on a carpeted floor and wired to four computers and never once had any kind of heat issues or performance issues.
