Stupid advertising ploy. Does it actually work on people?


"If we can't beat the competitor's price, we'll give you $500 cash!"


...Well obviously you can beat it by like $100 bucks or something in order to avoid giving up 500. Just seems like a pointless statement to me.

As with most advertising, if it doesn't work they won't use it. So if they use it, it's gatta work at least sometimes, enough to be profitable. :dunno:

It's just appealing to the customers. I know it's not a good offer, considering if the difference is $600, they will just give you the $500 instead...

It's all a marketing gimmick. Just like $99.99 is a better deal then $100.00. It's all pyshchological.
