Streetracing = :ghey:
Consider this: Saturday night a Capitol Raceway here in the DC metro area a 10 second mustang had a fuel line or rail fail before the 1/8 mile point. The resultant fire immediately burned through the brake lines and all he had left was the E brake. By the time he got stopped the car was fully engulfed and he just barely made it out. Of course it was a test and tune night and no fire truck was required onsite. Many competitors tried futilely to fight the fire.
Now think what could have happened on a deserted country road with no one around to help. Plus most of you probably don't have the driving skills or presence of mind this guy did and would have wound up upside down in a ditch becoming a crispy critter.

Yeah, because there are tons of street driven 10 second cars around. Freak accidents happen...at the track, on the street, in your sleep...it's a part of life.

my little brother went out street racing on one of the busiest streets in his friends car down in colorado springs, he was all like "it was so cool!" my only response was I hope you get caught and have your license revoked , because no matter where you are, racing without experienced and smart safety crews (or other experienced and smart drivers in a controlled environment) is terribly stupid, there are way too many variables, one of my good friends can't drive and lives in a wheel chair because of street racing and he wasn't part of the race, he just happened to turn onto the wrong street at 3am and got broadsided by a car doing 130+ mph. I have no problem with racing, just outside of a sanctioned event or a test an tune day (which isn't that expensive) it's one of the stupidest things possible
guy at my work did that "organized street racing thing" they had a few people mark the road for a 1/4 mile and all that, but the idiots didn't leave them room at the end to stop, so he driving a 95ish svt cobra, and racing a svt lightening, were going over 100, and at the end, oops no room to stop, they ran into eachother around a corner. over 10k total damage between the two cars.. he's only 16, he learned the hard way, cops and insurance do not know about it, each person (parent) is paying for the damage... yeahhhh deserted roads are safe :slap: i guess get some smarter friends.
Common sense > those people
