well i'm not in ROTC, and I will be shooting for OTS/OCS...

ok, back to the original topic, and forgive my ignorance, but what's the point of these bullets? to cause more damage?

the extra damage is a side effect of the intended purpose. they are designed to transfer as much kinetic energy from the bullet in motion to the intended target. it's the knockdown power that is desired.

say for instance.. a round that doesn't mushroom has a higher chance of passing through the intended target and injuring an innocent bystander on the other side.

i took the .357 magnum out yesterday and went shooting...just some hollow tips though. Fun times
