so ever since i fixed my exhaust leak, the CEL has been coming on. Seems like every morning, it would come on for a bit, and that was it. Well, last night i noticed the car was losing power. I would give it gas, and it would seem like it's boggin down. And soon after, CEL came back on. Check the code today, and it's throwing 43 (Fuel Supply System defective or malfunctioning fuel supply system). So i'm guessing fuel pump is bad, or filter is clogged. Where's the filter on my car?

Look at the left of the fuel rail and follow where the fuel line goes to and you'll see a black canister, that is your fuel filter.

 

To the right of your battery, it's a small canister on a braket coming off of the firewall. It's roundish and about 3" tall.

 

got it...cool, is there 2 fuel filters or jus that one? you think that being clogged would cause code 43?

 

Yea it could cause that if the injectors are not getting enough pressure. Either that or the fuel pump. but it could still be other stuff, but its a low chance it would be.

 

a handy thing to have - a fuel pressure regulator and gauge, or at least a gauge. cheap, and you can see if your car isnt putting out the appropriate fuel pressure.

 

yeah i have a guage. i will test it later. i bought a new filter too.

 

put the new fuel filter on. still doing the same shit. when the car is cold, it seems to idle fine, but after i get up to like 40mph, it just bogs down, like not enough fuel. weird thing is, it doesn't do it after it gets warmed up, or if the CEL comes on, it quits doing it.

 

Change the fuel filter and make sure you fully seal your gas cap.
