last night i actually got a signal on my cell even though the antenna broke off a few weeks ago. not only a signal but a full one at that. i managed to call two of my friends and had perfect reception. :screwy: of course with my luck it only lasted for about 30 minutes. :happysad:

I don't know how GSM systems work, but CDMA towers can order a phone to go to high power if a set of circumstances indicates that it's necessary.

Some time will pass before the tower orders the phone to power down again.

"High power" is still not like the old 3 watt days, but it can boost your handset from .3 to something like 1.5 and that will give you conversational signal where you didn't have it before.

Properly programmed, it's very useful and it's one of the many reasons why Verizon got ahead of the game there for a while.
