I brought my car home for the first time in a year in June. Everything that's polished in the engine bay, and the bald drag radials keep me from driving it in the rain. Every track day I've been able to attend has been rained out. This thing's a @%&$ing lawn ornament. Don't get me wrong, I love the car just the way it is, but I'd rather be loving it from the driver's seat than from afar. I have a ton of tuning to finish that I don't want to have to do dodging puddles. This has been by far the WETTEST SUMMER EVER in Richmond, VA. What's worse???? There's no end in sight of the gloominess. See attached pic.

Anyone know of any indoor dragstrips?

i am near richmond. where is the race track at? i always look for a hangout place around here, but none possible. there are some hot rides here and most of them have to go all the way up baltimore to show them off cuz no one here got anything for them to show off at. there is a old drag strip that people use, but a lot of no-ride punk ass niggas there. they tend to try to scratch or steel your rims (or parts) if they like what they see. a friend of mine got his rims stolen by a dude that don't even own a car. nothing could be done cuz the thief is connected with small time ghetto gang. insurance covered it, but it gave us a reason to not patron there nomore.

Well, there's Richmond Dragway in Sandston (near the airport) and there's Dinwiddie, or Virginia Motorsports park, or whatever you want to call it. It's in Dinwiddie, a few miles south of Petersburg off I-85, and they used to run the NHRA big dawgs there. They stopped doing it because NHRA wouldn't clean up their mess after events, so no we're stuck with local events on a great freakin' track. IHRA events still run there, though. Richmond dragway is small potatoes with no scoreboards, but they run accutime, and for $15 it's a hell of a way to spend every other Friday night. That is... IF IT DOESN'T RAIN.

Sounds like one ghetto-ass hang out spot. I've never heard of something like that happening at either of those tracks, but if someone tried to do that to one of my buckets there, they'd end up with a few new holes.

Here are both tracks' websites.

I'm crossing my fingers AGAIN for Saturday. NITTO 555R's don't last more than 10000 miles, and I have 10001 on them, so it's not likely to find me at MIR, 75/80, Capitol Raceway, or any of the northern tracks any time soon.

It didn't rain at MIR on Saturday. I heard a rumor that a guy in an un-tuned bone-stock '90 Plymouth Laser ran a 13.37 @ 107.6mph that day on my old turbo (the one I sold him with 55k+ miles on it). At only 15 PSI, too. I ran 19 PSI on it and never broke 99.89mph in the traps. That's adding insult to injury right there. But hey, I'm AWD and a lot heavier.

Oh well... maybe someday I'll get to stretch this car's legs.

Oh yeah...

Man... I don't know. I don't want to jinx myself. The last round of upgrades, I said I wanted to run 13.2's, and I only ran a 13.5.

This time, my compression is 1/2 point higher, I got rid of the balance shaft, I'm using a big16g instead of a small 16g turbo, I have a FMIC, and short-route 2.5" pipes, a real BOV, a 3" turbo-back with a test pipe instead of the full factory exhaust, 550cc injectors instead of 450's, HKS cams instead of stockers, no more MAF sensor clogging up my turbo intake pipe, ported and polished head, a few more transmission mods, and enough ARP hardware in the engine for it to hold 30 PSI. I can't do that with pump gas, though.

I want to say low 12's... maybe high 11's with tuning... but given the number of parts I've changed out in this round, it will probably take me a good while to get there. The potential is built in, but if I never get a chance to run it and stretch its legs, it will never meet it. I'm sure that it's capable of making at least 400hp with these mods because many others have achieved that with a big16g and 550's on STOCK engines.
