Default Thats what friends are for!

Man I just had to tell you guys that I have one awesome friend. He just saved my ass from all kinds of car/money problems. Want to hear, then here it goes.

I leave work at 2:30pm and head to get gas. I fill up and my check oil light came on so I grab a quart of oil to put in my truck. Now mind you, it has 191k and last oil change was 6000 miles ago so I figure one quart would do. I was in a hurry so didnt bother checking the dipstick after I put that quart in. Well home is 50 miles south. As I enter the freeway, I see a PUFF of white smoke in my mirror and a burning smell followed by a loss of power. I immediately exit to a parking lot and call my buddy who is familiar with Rangers. I search and search and check dipstick but couldnt get an accurate reading (explains itself later). He says "Bro, I'll come get you and tow you home man." I tell him "Thanks dude, Ill defintely pay you since its WAY WAY out of your way."

He comes to get me and we trailer it home. Now the truck has been sitting about 2 hours and the oil levels have had time to settle. We check the dipstick again and it reads OVER FULL. If you had a truck that old with that many miles and your oil light came on, wouldnt you add some if you couldnt get an accurate reading----just to be safe? Well we changed the oil, filter and started the truck. JUST LIKE THAT!! I was soooooo stoked because I was thinking my heads cracked or a ring or something major! I took the truck around the block and it was back to normal. it turned out to be that there is a filter valve at the top of my valve cover that oil was getting into since it was too full, causing the burning of white smoke through my exhaust. MAN OH MAN!!

I gave him $100 bucks and he rejected it since he's that type of guy. I INSISTED HE TAKE IT and he finally did. Plus the fact that he fought rush hour traffic, missed dinner with his chick and family and saved me from mental suicide. To break it down, the guy is quality and Im really glad he was there for me. Im so damn happy right now

Tow truck hook up fee = $40.00
$4.00 per mile x 50 miles = $200.00
5 quarts oil and filter at shop = $30.00
Friend there in another friends time of need = Priceless

A good friend will bail you out of jail.

Your best friend will be sitting next to you in jail.

:chuckles:

I :dunno: I read that somewhere and it made me laugh.

$270 is what it woulda cost him to get it towed by a towing company, and not his friend.
