I only got spanked once or maybe twice in my life. This just reminds me of something, heheheh. One time, I did somethin wrong, I don't remember what, and my mom was gonna smack me one so I was running around the house trying to get away, but she finally cornered me against a wall; She went to slap me, I ducked, and WHAM she slapped the taste out of the wall's mouth. She hurt her hand and I couldn't help but laugh and then she started laughin too. Good times.

I think what it did was make me afraid of my parents and resent them more and just avoiding them totally so that I would not get into trouble. The one thing I know for sure is that I would not want to put my kids through what I had to go through, however, I would spank on the butt if it was necessary and I don't see anything wrong with that.. but slapping on the face and using objects to inflict pain is out of the question for me..

My dad used to beat the crap out of me. For getting a C on a test/quiz at school, for coming home an hour late, for being more friendly towards my mom, for defending my mom when she didn't do anything wrong, etc. Yea, I would consider that abuse. My mother tells me that I'm very quiet around people that I don't know. I guess I would agree with her. My dad never taught me discipline by givin me a whoopin. It made me teach myself to not trust anybody unless I know them extremely well, and to not give people second chances because if they fcuk up once, they are already a fcukup. But yea, who cares, when I was about 15 the tables turned and I beat his ass on a few occasions, my parents finally divorced, and we lived happily ever after:exnbp:.
The important thing is to think of the child, and what would teach the child the best. Sometimes, they are just too young to understand how certain things work and they need to be explained to the child. Other times, if the child knows that it's wrong and they still do it, then it's a whippin time. When the kid is already an adolescent, it's probably too late to change them. Like kids who break into cars
They need to be sent to prison.

As most of you said, I used to get smacked when I did something stupid/disrespectful/wrong, and I feel that I am a better person today because of it. I also feel that this is a major cause of why children today are pretty much out of control....no discipline.
One issue to consider about this is the fact that laws regarding "domestic violence" have completely gotten out of control. From a law enforcement perspective, if you show up at a call and there is even the SLIGHTEST sign that something has happened (red marks/minor abrasion/etc), you are required to make an arrest....no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I had a call about a year ago where some little punk ass 15 year old kid got in his mom's face, was screaming at her, completely disrespecting her, and so she slapped him (which he completely diserved). The little punk then goes and calls the police, and we show up and he has a little red mark on his face where he was slapped. Legally, we were required to arrest her. The worst thing was that he stood there with a shit eating grin on his face as we were taking her away...as if he had won. The laws have made it that its pretty much impossible to physically discipline your children. Kids like the one I just spoke about are only a sign of what we have in store...its scary.
