best way to find a good/reliable/honest mechanic
Another one of those "pick 2" situations? I'm just getting sick of asking a shop or mechanic to do something and it either getting done with a problem, not getting done, or they just do it wrong.
How do you find a new mechanic that's good?

I pull the car into my garage, and do it myself. That way I know it gets done right.

I had to take the car for an inspection and they decided to just throw away one of my nice expensinve LED turn signal bulbs and replace it with some crappy white bulb. I called them back as soon as I could but they said they already threw it away. How am I supposed to prevent that?
We don't have inspection here, just smog checks.
