D, it probably is the water pump. I need to replace my radiator, thermostat, and housing later this year for preventative measures. I really felt stock at the meet h:

but you know its intermittent. i figure if it was the water pump it would break and thats the end.

but this is how it goes.

got my car from the shop everything was fine. drove it around for a little bit over two days and thats it. came home friday went out everything was fine. dropped girlfriend off at home. ripped it up a bit for two blocks look down and temp light is on and gauge is HOT. pulled over and shut down. left car over night came back and picked it up in the morning. drives fine heats up ok, but all of sudden heat goes up. turn it off heat goes down and this keeps happening. so im taking it back tomorrow, but i dont think its the water pump, that would be more of a consistent problem.

oh btw i also had to get a new headgasket at the same time

hmm, no steam coming from the radiator? Also, I was just stating that the water pump is a recommended replacement when you pick up an m3.

what was up with your head gasket? also, mind telling me how much that part ran you? h:

bought the car noticed that the coolant was disappeaing slowly after i kept refilling it. did radiator pressure check everything was cool with the head. got new radiator pressure tested again found leak from head. the total labor was $892 that was for head gasket replacement and new radiator. the guy that i bought the car from picked up the tab. i payed for new metal housing and thermostat which was $115. the reason it was only $892 was the shop was doing the guy a favor. it might be a little bit more depening where you go.

nope no steam from the radiator car just overheats.

A 1995 M3 coupe, depending on equipment and mileage and in good shape, should run anywhere from $15000 to $20000.
