In 1985, my wife concluded that her 1974 Vega was getting too small for her and our four-year-old daughter. She wanted a station wagon (!) and asked me to start shopping around. On January 20, 1985, we ordered a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport wagon (with the no-cost "all-white" trim scheme). Little did I know that she was planning ahead so as to have enough room for our second child.
The "all-white" trim was attractive, but a bit too plain vanilla for my tastes, so I replaced the white grill and headlight bezels with stock black ones. Then I painted the grill's Chevrolet "bowtie" pimento red. Looked great. Finally, I replaced the stock white steel wheels with the mag wheels seen in the picture. As I had no place to store them, I returned the stock white wheels to the dealer and asked that he find them a good home.
I was disappointed that neither four-wheel anti-lock disk brakes, nor a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission were available when we ordered the car. Yet, with the minor cosmetic changes I had made and with its 2.8 litre, 130 hp, fuel-injected engine (same as used in base Camaros of the time), I could live with the Celebrity and it served us well until 1996.
