depends on how you look at it. they basically said, BMW shouldn't have built the car. They liked the way it handled and that was about it.

If I were to get one, I think I would seriously look for a nice used X5 4.6iS.

The X3 with 3.0L engine doesn't have enough power.

Perhaps. I don't know if it was the shock of a BMW SUV at first, or the fact that you could get a 5-Series wagon and be just as functional.

actually the E39 5 wagon has more cargo space then the X5... the only thing the X5 has is the nice AWD system.

i like the X5's... and the X3's arent as bad as i initially thought now that ive seen several in person...havent driven an X3 yet tho... but seems too small for me anyway. of the "bigger room" 3 bimmer line up, i would choose E39 wagon > X5 > X3

I saw one yesterday, and it looks so narrow to me. It looks like a poor mans X5. I thought to myself "cool, they are selling an SUV the average person can afford". Then I found out they start at $37K. I'd rather have a MDX.

I find the unpainted bumpers really unattractive, but for an extra few thousand BMW makes a body kit that looks very nice. I was really impressed by the flip-up navigation screen at the top of the dash, but I'm a gadget geek.

I'm a huge fan of the panoramic sunroof and I suspect that it will begin to appear on many more cars in the next few years. The only cars I know of that already have it are the Mini Cooper, Chevy Malibu Maxx, Scion tC, Mercedes E-Class, and the X3. Any others?
