Get a Visa or Mastercard as they are commonly used.

And remember its NOT free money so don't go maxing out your limit. If you pay off your balance every month then its good, if not be prepared to go into debt.

something with a low interest rate and a low limit That will ensure low monthly payments.

I have a Capitol One card with a $500 limit. They've been pretty good to me although late fees will absolutely kill you so spend responsibly and make payments on time. I usually pay double the minimum payment because you usually make no ground making the minimum.

find one that has the one year 0% APR then at the end of the year...find a new one....thats what I do....never had to pay percentage rates yet.

Seems to me Visa and Mastercard are much more accepted but I'm not credit card connoisseur.

Also, keep in mind that your credit limit will increase if you keep up on all of your payments, and that isn't necessarily a good thing, because your "potential debt" will increase, thus hurting your credit.

My first credit card limit was $250. A few months ago I learned that it went up to $2k. I canceled it and got a new one. The new one is cool; 0% APR until April 2005, $1500 credit limit, and it has the democratic party's logo on it
