problems with labtop pc.....help!!!

okay but the laptop didnt come with any disc.... this guy just gave me these ones and they look kinda old but i got nothing for em except the power plug... now i have another labtop that i bought and has windows 2000 (i think) and that one came with a recovery disc... can i just take that disc and use it on these old ones??? i was also thinking maybe since they are old they wont be able to "handle" win 2000 memory wise and everything... anyways my main question what is formating it mean??? and if i take this to a pc shop how much you think it will cost???? thanks

Labtop is not a word.
And I could see a person confusing it both ways....
eg. Labtop instead of Laptop, or I could see it being a different way of saying Desktop too.
either way it's incorrect so dont ever say it again :fawk:
