Damn this movie gets better with each viewing. The part in the movie where Leonard goes...

I have to believe in a world outside my own mind. I have to believe that my actions still have meaning, even if I can't remember them. I have to believe that when my eyes are closed, the world's still there. Do I believe the world's still there? Is it still out there?... Yeah. We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are. I'm no different.

Its sadly one of those movies that either makes you go wow or what the hell. I watched the movie tonight with a close friend who is psychologically built up like I am. Watching the movie with him did elicit a lot of intense discussions. You realize how it is possible for a law abiding citizen to become a criminal because deep inside his mind he realizes that what he is doing is ok. It makes you realize that people will go a long way to find closure, but what is the price that they have to pay in order to bring closure.

There is a Leonard in all of us, there is a John G in all of us.

 

Ain't alone... some people just don't open that little portal in their mind that brings out deep thoughts.

 

he doesnt want to know though!! he has the chance to remember he killed johny G but makes himself forget because if he remember's theres no use for him anymore, so he forgets to keep the puzzle alive :bigok:

It's my 2nd favorite movie ever. I have the special edition.

Everytime I watch it I learn something new about the plot, I go "Ahh.. that makes sense" lol.. Someday I'll write up a full anaylsis once I understand it all.

But basically the jist of it is that Leonard is being used by people that know about his condition. Teddy used him to get rid of that rich guy that was dating Carrie Anne-Moss, so he could swipe the car and money in the trunk, yet thats not how it turned out because Leonard is a slick guy (despite his condition). Somehow Carrie Anne Moss finds out that Leonard killed her fiance and uses him to beat the crap out of Dodd for some reason.

Like I said before, I'm still unsure of a few things in this movie. The ending, of course, mind-****'s you when you see if first, but after multiple viewings I've kinda decided it doesn't really matter if Teddy was telling the truth (Is there a Sammy Jarkis or not?).. Oh one thing about the Sammy Jarkis thing is that I noticed that "remember sammy jarkis" is written in cursive on Leonard's hand while Leonard writes in capital letters, this suggests that someone wrote it on his hand (Teddy) to condition Leonard in to remembering and believing there is a Sammy Jarkis and that there still is a John G. out there to kill.

But why did Teddy say "No!" right before he got shot.. What did he forget to tell Leonard so he wouldn't kill him? What piece was missing? Also, why was the guy with the car and money in the trunk have money in the trunk in the first place?

Ultimately, Leonard decides that Teddy is overall a bad guy that is probably using Leonard to do bad stuff, so he forgets what may be the truth so he can live his fantasy world just to eventually kill Teddy.

Phew.

 

Now i want to watch it.
