(Assuming you're referring to Bush) Nightshade, move to France, or canada...you'll be much happier...you can bash the president all you want there and wont make an ass of yourself to patriotic americans like me.

I have seen 3 threads, there are prob more, where you point out something you don't like about our government or our president. This country kicks ass IMHO.

If you think that patriotism means never being critical of our government, you don't understand what patriotism is.

That's not what I think it means. I think it means having pride in your country, and being proud of where your from, or currently reside. And to constantly bash said country, is to negate patriotism on your own part.

No it isn't.

Edward Abbey is quoted as saying "A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his goverment."

I'm not positive that Abbey really said it, but the quote really illustrates the point. When Richard Nixon orchestrated a break-in at the Watergate Hotel and the subsequent coverup, was it unpatriotic to impeach him?

If you read the thread you would have seen that I was talking abou Kerrys Senate record in the last year and how he has been missing scheduled dates that require his vote on items etc.

I can be as critical as I choose of my country and you calling me unpatriotic is on your part downright unpatriotic. I am assured tha ability to be critical of my government and the ability to point out things I find displeasure in within the government.

You are right though, I don't particularly enjoy living in the US because it is going downhill quickly. I have been alive and in this country for the better part of my life, but I have also seen life outside this country....and it is starting to appeal to me a lot.

I will voice my opinion, and I will do it as often as I choose to, for you to call the voicing of my opinion unpatriotic shows that you know little about patriotism and instead just follow like most sheeple with blind faith.

I was not bein hypocritical at all actually I was instead pointing out a "pot...kettle...black" situation that you began

You do follow if you never question your governments orders or motives and simply accept that they must have your best interest in mind when doing things.

I called you unpatriotic in the same way you called me unpatriotic in no less than two threads.

Did I ever say I thought the government was perfect? No. So don't say I "accept" the ways of our government. There are some things I would change if i could.

Then why get angry when I try to poit out things I am unhappy with in our gov.? If I am unhappy with something I say something about it and I get other peoples opinions on it and at the same time I debate from my side of seeing things. Sometimes I see that I may be in error with my thinking and sometimes I find I am not but if I am correct then I want others to be aware of the situation in order to have informed decisions when they go to the polls etc.
