Um thats a basic concept of series. If one goes all go. You'd want a parallel combination.

Groan why can't schools teach the basics of electronics.

It wasn't geared towards you, just a general observation. Did you know 1 out of 3 kids can't tell you how to wire a household plug.

heh well i know plenty about wiring, just didnt know what happened to an LED when it blew. Besides... if it shorts out when it burns the other LEDs would still work, just burn out overtime from the increased current.

If you are running series it doesn't matter what the LED does. If it blows you lose all of them. You need to wire it in parallel. Also with parallel you don't need gobs of voltage because they all use the same voltage with the current being split up. Be careful as LEDs are super sensitive to current, they can take voltages to pretty high extremes. Most take only 25mA of max current.

Why would I lose them all if one goes? if it just shorts out its like it wasnt there. Yea parallel is of course the ideal but if you have a lot of them i'd need a buncha resistors.
