I turn 25 in 2 weeks, but my insurance doesn't renew until 4-5 months. Can I call the day I turn 25 to have my rates reduced, or do I have to wait until my policy comes up for renewal?

Those that have already turned 25 did your rates drop considerably?

Just wait for the policy to renew, if you call and want the cheaper rate, they might have to re-instate your policy. But it can't hurt to call about it.

How many points (if any) and accidents do you have? that matters a LOT

I am 23 right now, have 2 points and 2 accidents (so 3 incidents total) and im on MIAF paying 402/mo for a PT Cruiser and 91 Civic HB (full coverage on both)

Allstate (who i will get coverage with on April 30, 2005) quoted me and i will go down to 168/mo for BOTH CARS, and that's still with 1 incident, after that it will be 156/mo, and then after that i will turn 25 and he said it will go down, but he didnt say how much for sure. I know I can't wait until next year!

 

Clean record for about 6 yrs now.

 

I'm with Pemco insurance, and just had an accident removed from my record (after 3 years of safe driving, it goes away). I'm 19 right now, and pay $175 a month ($2100 a year, full coverage). My dad asked about when my rates would drop, and when I turn 21 years old, my rates will drop $998. I'm also thinking about insuring my add-ons, since they're not covered. Talked to someone, and insurance goes up like $40 a year for up to $2000 worth of extras.

 

i turned 25 in december and they sent me a check in january for $80. my insurance runs nov-may , may-nov. it didn't go down as much as i thought cause i already had the good student discount which they let me keep till i turned 25.

 

I've said this before and I'll say it again.

If your rates drops massively when you turn 25, then you were overpaying for a good 3+ years. This is provided you had a clean record.

 

mine went down when i turned 25, i didnt even notify them. went from $180 month to $130
