Default Has this ever happened to you in your sleep?

I was on honda-tech and was reading thru a thread that brought back something that happened to me about 6-9months ago. The guy on that thread had the same experience, and suprisingly several others have too. At the time, I thought nothing of it. I mentioned it to my gf at the time and she kinda freaked out and didn't want to hear any more of what happened.

Anyway, I was sleeping at my ex gf's house and woke up around 2-3 in the morning for some odd reason. My eyes opened and I could look around but I couldn't turn my head or move anything. I went to say something or yell but it's like I had no vocal abilities. This went on for it seemed like 5-10min before I just shut my eyes and made myself go back to sleep. Words can't explain being in that situation. Has anyone else experienced this??

that always happened to me when i slept at my old job. i use to work as a parking attendant at a hospital, and i would nap in my car on my breaks. and almost ever time i sleep, i would wake up to someone getting into their car that is parked next to mine. and i would be able to open my eyes and see and hear them. but i cant move any part of my body or say anything. but i would find it fuking sweeet because i would consiously know what is happening. then i just tell myself to go back to sleep.

i think this happens when a part of your brain is still "sleeping" while another is wide awake... :dunno:

:ugh:

Symptoms

Paralysis whilst entering or exiting REM sleep (dreaming).

Total body paralysis, with sparing of respiration and eye movements. It lasts from seconds to minutes and can be a bizarre and usually terribly frightening experience.
With the paralysis you can experience some of these common things:

A feeling of being choked or suffocated

A feeling of someone pinning you down or sitting on you (your chest in particular)

Being able to hear noises including footsteps and voices close by

Being able to see beings or dark shadows surrounding or standing near the bed

A frightening feeling of evil descending upon you

Shaking of the body or rumbling sensation (ringing) in the ears

A feeling of untold evil surrounding you or trying to suffocate you

Noises such as knocking or banging on the walls

The feeling of being in a dream like state but yet thinking you are awake

happened a lot to my cousin. some girl hung herself in his room before my aunt and uncle moved into the house. he believed it was the ghost in his room holding him down and keeping him from screaming.

Wow, I've been thru all of that... I didn't know this was common with REM. I dread going thru these.

^ Those exact symptoms some people have described to me that they've had. They believed it was an evil spirit, I told them there was most likely some scientific explanation.
