Default Element Intake...

Not too many parts are available for the Element so sometimes it requires you to be creative. Element intakes on ebay are like $190 and hard to find but RSX ones are only $25 and more readily available. I figured it couldn't be that different since K-series is K-series. Well it fit in as decently as a generic ebay intake can fit. I had to do a little customizing here and there to make it fit such rerouting some coolant lines and getting a large hose for the PCV system. But still only cost around $2 for the extra stuff. So $27 intake ain't too bad. The car doesn't really seem faster however it now easily can break loose the wheels where before I never got it to do that. I wonder if it added some torque to the wheels. I know K-series is fairly responsive.

The car made sort of a turbo-ish sound, I nailed the gas until the car went to like 5000rpms than just let off and it made a pop sound, almost like a car with a giant backfiring exhaust meets blow off valve. It was interesting.

How does the air flow to the filter? Is there any directed air path to the filter?

Not really like a cold air intake or anything like that. In the picture it is hard to tell but the filter is right above a big space where the steering rack is so it has air there to breath. I mean the filter is in the same place the stock one was and that breathed somehow. I should take a picture of the stock airbox system, its enormous and stupid looking.

The intake is rather short and when we first started the car up it was pretty loud and I could feel the intake sucking air in hard when I put my hand up to the filter. The 2.4 is a pretty big 4 cylinder so I'm sure it can suck in a lot more air than the 1.6s I'm used to.
