Default [rant] pictures

I hate it when you find one of your pictures on the web being used after someone took your mark off of it.

I hate it even more when it is done by someone you know

I took a pic of a friend and he ended up taking it and cutting the mark off and putting it on his myspace and hot or not minus the watermark. That really pisses me off and now he takes it personally that I called him on it in public.....well I take it pretty personal when you alter my image and don't let it represent my work as it is supposed to

Yeah I could be a dick and take it to legal recourse but I don't want to do something stupid like that. So instead I am going to be pulling all my images down and creating a new watermark that cannot be removed.

Fukking friends making you do more work and damaging your pictures the way you didn't want to originally

Its a bit different when you actually start making money with your images though. What if I let him get away with it and others started doing the same? then it steamrolls and I lose money trying to track all the images down etc.

aww i see. i didnt think about you being a professional now.

try looking at it this way...if i took a pic of my friend and put it on the web with a watermark, then my friend finds it and want to use it on his "myspace" page....but take out the watermark, i wouldnt be as pissed. its not like he went around selling the photo or claiming he took it right?

Yeah thats what i am going to be doing from here out. I am actually going to pull all my images off my host and remark every image I have so this isn't happening again.

Will: Your right and I am usually not a dick about this type of stuff, but the problem is that he gives no credit and removed the mark without asking or informing me before it happened. I just so happen to check his page out today and noticed it.

I left him a comment on it and he called me real fast about the image but its too little too late at this point.

I am not going to be all pissed about it and ditch him as a friend or anything, but it is making me revise my marking system.

wouldnt having a bigger marking (or one accross the pic) make the picture less appealing to people?

well I am going to have to because if a person can just copy the image and make their own prints then it takes money from my pocket for my work.

For general viewing and sharing of the image itself it will be fine and the mage although heavily marked will still get the point across. I have to protect my work any way I can and if someone wants to use it then they can contact me about the image.
