Yeah its just a thought right now...I dunno I am trying to get away from Hondas a bit but I seem to keep getting sucked back in.

If I do it right I figure I should be in the low 12s possibly high 11s all motor.

Oh and btw this is the second tranny in a year...not sure why its happening because I don't abuse my car. Maybe its just because its a Honda h:

But seriously it makes me wonder why the tranny keeps going bad on this setup

I hear what you're saying about getting out of the Honda scene, but if the car still is rewarding to drive, then who really cares about what others think?

I guess what I'm saying is...if you still enjoy the car... don't worry about what other people, with lesser motives and lesser talents are doing or saying.

Shifting gears [h:], if the input shaft is indeed toast, what about shotpeening and/or cryo-treatment for the transmission internals? :dunno:

Yeah I dunno I like the car and all but I am so used to it that its getting boring to me. Everyone else sems to think its something amazing and that is great but I guess its different when you own it and drive it every day.

These are stock Prelude transmissions I assume?
How'd the first one die? If it was a catastrophic failure of multiple parts...do you know which components failed when?

And how much power is this demonic H-series making? :rick:

First one threw synch gears all over the place and punched a hole in itself somehow.

As far as the power output I am not sure...I still haven't had it on the dyno. The compression sits at 11.7:1 though

Dayum...that some fairly serious squeeze you got there. :eek3:

Well, given the nature of the swap the drive-axle and transmission shaft geometry shouldn't be an issue. All the IDRC all-motor teams should prove the durability of the transmission beyond all doubt.....

The best, cost-effective solution I can think of is what the FWD SR20DET guys do... cryotreatment. Basically it amounts to a cycle of heat treating and deep freezing to strengthen the steel at the level of the molecular bonds.

A fatigue crack in one synchro could easily lead to it "hand-grenading" when asked to deal with a sh*tload of torque. The consequent shrapnel in the gear box makes things even worse. h: But it seems to me it'd take a hell of a lot more torque to snap the input shaft, though. :dunno:

That happened to a friend of mine. You should see the hole it tore in his tranny. It looked like a small explosive had gone off!
