May 19th is the official "Don't buy gas day." If no one buys gas for a single day gas companies will lose over 4.6 BILLION dollars forcing prices to go down. Heres the whole article that my buddy got in an email:
:blah: :blah: all in caps and annoying as hell to read deleted.

Unless people don't _drive_ on that day, I don't see how it could possibly make a difference. They will end up buying the gas they didn't buy on that day on another day very near to that day and demand will be the same over the period of a few days.
Spam mail > you.
Wake up and smell the roses, that email is nothing but crock because the demand for gas will always exceed the supply and hence the prices will always be high because we are willing to pay that kind of dough to have the freedom to drive.
Also IBL.

While the guy posting this is a moron (sorry to be mean, but it's true), the message's content is in the right direction. Gas prices for 87 octane in the Seattle area have hit $2.30/gal which is absolutely ridiculous. I'm paying $0.80 more a gallon now than I did a year ago, and I'm sure other areas have seen similar price jumps. Why not save money and the environment by driving less?
