Has anyone ever done this ? how easy is it / how much is it to get it done

It's possible and has been done, however it's far easier to simply buy a manual transmission version of your car.

The exception here being if you plan on swapping the motor anyway.

Done it on a 240SX...its a bitch and not worth your time unelss you have every single part needed to do the swap. Still you need about 3 or 4 car smart buddies, 10 hours of hard labor, some space, and patience.

its only worth it if the car is rare like a 240sx/rx7/etc... and you can't find it in manual.

please tell me its one of the above and not a freakin honda

Why's that? I've seen people convert hondas in 4 hours, all you need is all the parts and car smart. If you know what to do, then it's not :ghey:
And why spend the time looking for another car to be sold that is the same as yours but a manual and then also selling your car...I'd say it's easier to convert in a day then changing vehicles.

my friend did his in one day .. the shop he went to didnt even mind to do it... $1200 canadian which included the LS tranny and the labor..

(its very labor intensive)

:shrugs: i dont mind doing it, i am gonna do it to mine next summer.
